30th anniversary

In August 1984, at the IDRS Congress in Graz, I presented the first prototype of the hardness tester to international woodwind players. At that time no one could imagine that this groundbreaking invention would simplify pipe construction which up to then had been rather complicated. A few years later the ‘Potratz hardness tester’ had become a standard product throughout the world.
Today a pipe or reed construction without a strength or hardness test is unthinkable. The success which I have achieved all over the world with this small, inconspicuous device I would like to share on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of its invention with all woodwind players.
